Wind wind and more wind!!!

Well. Were do i start.... Having arrived at Prestatyn Golf club we were greeted by members telling us that their own course was "unplayable"... Not exactly what you wish to hear having just travelled 60 miles! So.. Having had a coffee we headed optimistically to the first tee. By this time the rain had stopped yet the wind seemed to have intensified... Not only that, the first hole was Narrow, over water, and yes you guessed it.. strait into the wind. First to have a go was Mark. Now.. I would love to tell you that Mark split the fairway and put our minds at ease. However that wasn't quite the case. Instead Mark skied his tee shot high into the air at which point the wind took control sending the ball back over our heads, bouncing twice on the car park "behind us" and came to rest on the clubhouse putting green.

From then on in, things could only get better and with the clouds eventually clearing, although the wind remained it turned out to be quite a nice day.
Sying that.. the the wind took its toll on most though some managed to make the most of conditions and post a decent score. With two holes to play Ian Lead by one point with David and Frank one back.  But with Ian failing to capitalise David took his chance and made  birdie at the final hole to secure a two point victory. Frank took the longest drive whilst Ian claimed nearest the pin at the 162 yard 13th hole.

Playoff final and knockout cup update

After his bad start.. Mark did go one down at the first, but picked himself up and at one point lead Tony by five holes. However it was then Tony's turn to have a mini revival winning four of the last six holes to even things up only to be beaten on a countback after 18. Mark will now face either Andy Carmichael or Frank Regan in the final.

The four players who booked their places in the Captains day playoff final are as follows: Frank Regan 47, Ian Pugh 43, David Bristow 42 and Mark Drummond 36 points. Andy Carmichael and Trevor paid the price for missing the final event.
