This years Captains day started with slight confusion over the format for the morning round. After little debate it was decided that doubles better ball would be the preferred choice. Having been paired up the general consensus was that Birrell and Mark were slight favorites. However the pair with the highest joint handicap were overlooked and when it came down to it, Sutty and Martin Bell made it count. They finished with a unbeatable 10 under par for the nine holes and outplayed the rest of the field by three shots.

What a beaut!... Fantastic!!

So after being told off for BREATHING by almost every member at Frodsham we had our meals and headed backout to the first tee. The round would prove to be a slow one..... We were held up by what you would think, was the last pairing at the British open!!! Caddies, scorers, Referees, announcers, spectators, and every other idiot who has no life followed the group round.

Anyway.... We finally got underway and having completed nine holes Frank along with Gary bennett made the most of the easier front half... a must if you want to be in with a shout at the end. Trevor also got of to a flyer holing three 20 foot puts in succession to keep up with the leaders. The Longer back nine with the added bonus of rain proved to be a more difficult task with most golfers not managing to match their promising starts on the front. However as others fell way the wayside Gary maintained his steady pace and even with a ball in the water at the last managed to compose himself and finished with an impressive six for two points and a total of 37... enough to win by three from Ian, Andy and David.

Stevie birrell took the longest drive and nearest the pin tapping in for the two's comp to boot.
