Ian edges it at Arrowe Park

Ian Pugh (pictured left with closest rival Paul Burton) won the opening game of the winter league today with a narrow one shot victory at Arrowe Park. Paul burton pushed ian all the way and had an 8 foot putt at the last to draw level but it wasnt to be, and the recently crowned club champion had to settle for second place.
Ian got off to a great start with 21 points on the front nine and consolidated his round with a further 20 points on the back.
Things could have been a lot different after an impressive round by Steve Sutton came to a premature end on the 17th as he failed to register a point on the final two holes leaving him on 39 points for the day. I would like to thank everyone for turning out and we hope to see you all again next Sunday for our second fixture at Haigh Hall in Wigan. The Final standings were as follows: Ian Pugh 41 points, Paul Burton 40 points, Steve Sutton 39 points, Trevor Griffiths 38 points, Gary Bennett 38 points, James Barwise 38 points, Tony Southern 36 points, Frank Reagan 35 points, Ted Pugh 34 points, Leigh Robertson 23 points.

I would just like to say it took me a long time to choose Pauls pictures as he has such a vast portfolio of great catalogue poses! And as for Ste Sutton, what can I say that hasn't already been said! He's ahead of the game in looks and fashion. Paul has a great chance with a mentor like that. It’s like Mr. Miyagi and the karate kid all over again!
