This years cup final was contested between Mark Drummond and Frank Regan With Frank bidding to become the first player to win the competition three times. Mark on the other hand has only played in the competition once before and was defeated in the early rounds.

However even though Frank had much more experience in the knock-out event he would be giving away 12 shots before a ball was even struck in anger.With the game very even through nine holes Mark took a two hole lead on the 13th and managed to hold on until wrapping it up on the 225 yard par 3 16th hole. This is Marks first knock-out cup win in only the second time of asking. A great achievement in such a short period of time.
Mark begins the defence of his title with a tough first round tie against Chris Hallam whilst beaten finalist Frank Regan will play Ian Pugh in whats sure to be a close fought tie.
