The usually ever present "Hombre Captain" Gary Bennett (pictured right) who is yet to take part in a winter event this season, has released a statement through his agent at Stocks Hall Nursing Home amidst fears he may be a doubt for Spain??
Laura, a full time care assistant (bum wiper), has said, "Gary will return to the golfing circuit once the cold weather improves. We will certainly not rush him as he seems to be fitting in well here!!"
Since his recent hip replacement Gary has made significant progress and is on the road to recovery.
However, Ethel, Gary's crown green bowling partner at the nursing home was reluctant to talk about him leaving.
She later commented, "cold is a killer at our age, he'd be much safer indoors playing drafts with me and Dorris".
Who knows what the future holds for 65 year old Bennett, as rumours out of the Nursing Home are rife that Gary is set to take charge of their Domino/back gammon team for 2009.
Whatever the out come I'm sure Gary will be sadly missed!!!!!
