Captains Weekend 2008.

Saturday 9th Aug (Day 1)

Bryn Morfydd Golf Club Was the destination for this years Captains weekend with over twenty lads heading for north wales to take part in our first two day Stableford Competition.

For the second week running we managed to stay dry and Tony Southern (pictured above with an eager Fan) Carried on were he left off last week. Tony set the pace with a fantastic 41 points which would see him in concrete his place in the last group on Sunday. But a few did manage to hold on two his coat tails and although he led by two strokes Leigh Robertson was hot on his trail and with the likes of James Barwise, Stevie Birrell and Ste Bristow all within 8 strokes the game was far fron over.

After A fantastic three course meal, a quiz, and several drinks we found out quite a lot about some of our members, For instance, Leigh Doesn't like sambuka! Colin and Freddie don't like quizzes, Mally likes to be known as the Rocket Man and the ghost of Bryn Morfydd took a shit in jamses room! "Spooky!"

Sunday 10th Aug (Day 2)
Day 2 saw the Groups tee off in Scoring order with the best scores from the previous day teeeing it up last.
Leigh Robertson looked favorite to catch Tony after opening with an impressive 39 points. But The conditions were a lot tougher on day two and the whole field strugglede to cope with the strong winds. This gave the outsiders a chance and so up stepped James Barwise (right) who had an opening round 35 points (6 off the lead). James walked off the 18th green with a second round 39 points (74 in total) and with Leigh struggling this left Tony southern needing 34 points or more to pip James.
