Paul makes it three! on Benno's big day.

Gary Bennett (Pictured top Left) Hosted our annual Captains Day on Saturday at the demanding yet stunning course of Mottram Hall.

The day kicked off with Texas scramble, played on the opening nine holes of the challenging championship course. The competition was a close affair with only two strokes separating all four teams. It seemed almost fitting that Gary Bennett along side Trevor Griffiths and Ste Birrell came through and clinched the first prizes of the day to finish on an impressive one over par in total for the nine.

After a light lunch and the lads gathered back on the first tee for the afternoons main event "18 holes stableford singles".

Gary Bennett seemed to have the competition in the bag with 16 holes played but went on to post no score on holes 17 and 18. This meant a three way battle for first place between Frank Reagan Trevor Griffiths and Paul Burton (pictured bottom left). All three were tied on 31 points on by far the toughest course we've played this year.

Like Open winner "Padraig Harrington", Paul Burton seemed to have luck of the Irish on his side as he claimed his third win of the year with yet another card count back win, this time over trevor Griffiths who had earier held his nerve and kocked in a six footer at the last to force the card playoff.

Paul wasn't the only winner on the day as there were also two nearest the pins, two longest drives and two two's competitions to be contested. The winners were as follows

* Front nine, nearest the pin: Gary Bennett
* Front nine, longest drive: Ted Pugh
* Front nine, two's comp: Gary Bennett
* Back nine, nearest the pin: Ian Pugh
* Back nine, longest drive: Trevor Griffiths
* Back nine two's comp: Frank Reagan

The presentation took place in the club house after the evening meal with Gary presenting an uplifting yet unprepared speech as the winners received there Prizes! Ted delivered his annual poem and succeeded to insult every last member of the society in his own special way.
The Captains prize went to Ian Pugh and the proceedings finished with everyone receiving a free gift.

I would like to give special thanks to are Captain Gary Bennett for a great day and Ted Pugh for the flawless organisation of the day itself! "Thanks lads"
