The season got underway today with a hot, sunny day at Southport golf club. There was a good turnout and I'm sure i speak for everyone when i say that a good day was had by all. The competition itself was quite low scoring yet very close, mainly due to the length of the course and the tough open greens. After 18 holes Gary Bennet and David Bristow were tied for second place with 30 points each, but this would not be enough as Paul Burton (pictured left) was left with two putts at the final hole to win the competition outright with 31 points. The highlight of Paul's round came at the par three 16th hole when he made a birdie which also won him the two's competition and nearest the pin. The longest drive came from James Barwise at the long par four 12th hole. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for turning up and we hope to see you again at Arrowe park on the 6th may.
